and Allah said "And proclaim the pilgramage among men; they will come to thee on foot and on every kind of camel. Lean on account of Journeys through deep and distant mountain highways" Surah 22 ~ Al Hajj Part 27

Dear Brother Webmaster

I was born and grew up in India. India is my country and Mumbai is my home. After College I got a good job as a clerk in a foreign Call Centre. Life was very good and I even got a credit card until I met and deeply fell in love with a girl at work. She is a year younger than me and works in the call centre as a call operator. In the beginning it was very good, until we decided to live together. In order to do that, we decided to get married, which we did by running away from our families.

We have had so much hurt and pain from both sides of the families because I am Muslim and Shusma is Hindu. We both decided we were going to observe our own respective religions and if Shahruk Khan can do it yaar, why can't we? Life is being made unbearable for both of us and we don't know what to do. My wife is very ill now because she is expecting our baby and this stress is making her sick. I am asking through your Internet system to see if there is anyone in this world who can help us. Paisa botha hain ke nahin? (Money talks doesnt it)

Your genuinely brother

Webmaster Remarks:

Asalaamwalaikum wa rehmatullah wa barakatu brother

We have added your plea on to our website and there have been many emails that have been sent to us and dully forwarded to you. I think Dr Farook Zaveri's (Hydrabad) email was the most appropriate whereby he has adviced you to strongly consider asking Shusma to consider accepting Islam, changing her name and moving on to another city where you can happily spend the rest of your life. In time your parents will forgive you and inshallah things will work out for you.

Marriage is not something that one takes lightly in Islam and there are very many conditions that are placed upon you as a believer, We can not agree or disagree with Mr Shahruk Khan's decision but on a personal note I believe that is not the right decision for a Muslim to make in light of the fact that he has an iconic status and people follow his lead. What sort of a message is he sending to the world's Muslim fans?

However do remember : No matter what ever the reasons, partaking or being with someone who partakes in idol worship is not only haram in Islam but also a dispicable act!

Allah said:

"These are among the (percepts of) wisdom, which thy Lord has revealed to thee. Take not with Allah another object of worship lest thou shouldst be thrown into Hell, blames worthy and rejected"

Surah 17 ~ Al-Isra Part 39
