In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful By the Night as it conceals By the Day as it appears in glory By the creation of male and female Verily (the ends) you strive for are diverse So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah) And (in all sincereity) testifies to the Best We will indeed make smooth for him the path to ease But he who is greedy, miserly and thinks himself self - sufficient And gives a lie to the best We will indeed make smooth a path for him, the path to Misery Nor will his wealth profit him, when he falls headlong (in to the pit) Verily we take upon us to guide And verily un to (belongs) the End and the Begining Therefore I warn you a fire blazing fiercely None shall burn there in but the most wretched ones Who give a lie to the Truth and their backs (on it) But those most devoted to Allah shall be moved far from it Those who spend their wealth to increase self - purification And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return But only the desire to seek for the countenance of their Lord, Most high And soon they will attain (complete) satisfaction

This is one of the first Surahs to be revealed , most likely in the first ten. The dates would be close to Surah's 89 - Surah Fajr and 93 - Surah Duha. All three describe the mysteries and the contrast between day and night to the consolation of mankind in their spiritual yearning and His promise to ease all burdens and smoothen the path of the righteous followers
